The more people that are talking about Small Business Saturday and planning big promotions, the more our community will support its mom and pop shops! So don’t hesitate … join the movement this year!

If you own a retail store, whether it’s a physical storefront or a virtual one, we want to send folks your way on November 25th. You can do your own thing or you can even organize the other retailers around you to really multiply your efforts!

So are you in?

There are two ways to participate.

Promote Your Store on Small Business Saturday

Leverage Small Business Saturday as a way to draw people to your store right at the height of Christmas shopping season. We will provide you with physical and digital products that you can use to advertise your promotional offers to your customers. No need to team up with other local retailers … you can do this on your own, whether you’re a bricks & mortar store or a virtual store.

Steps:

  1. Register to participate with the SBDC in Small Business Saturday.
  2. SBDC will send you a promotions pack that you can use to advertise your store.
  3. Plan and communicate your plans and promotions for Small Business Saturday using your social media accounts, website, and other forms of advertising (be sure to use the hashtags #shopsmall #smallbusinesssaturday and #SpringfieldSBDC)

Recruit Other Local Companies to Participate in Small Business Saturday

If you’re in an area with a number of local retailers that could team up to draw even more customers to your shopping district, we encourage you to take the lead in organizing this effort. This is a great way to build camaraderie among your fellow entrepreneurs.

Steps:

  1. Register to participate with the SBDC in Small Business Saturday.
  2. Contact the SBDC to let them know that you’d like to be a neighborhood organizer.
  3. SBDC will send you digital guides that provide helpful tips to recruit other businesses to advertise their participation in Small Business Saturday, as well as extra promotional items to share with other business owners.
  4. Plan and communicate your plans and promotions for Small Business Saturday using your social media accounts, website, and other forms of advertising (be sure to use the hashtags #shopsmall #smallbusinesssaturday and #SpringfieldSBDC), encouraging your other local businesses to do the same.
